Privacy and Your Data
Every tap, swipe, and photo leaves a trace. In this lesson you will learn what your "data" really is, how a piece of information about you travels from your phone to companies you have never heard of, why "I have nothing to hide" is weaker than it sounds, and the concrete habits that actually protect you.
The big idea
Privacy is not about having secrets. Privacy is about you deciding who knows what about you, and for what purpose. Artificial Intelligence changes this game because it does not only store what you tell it — it can infer (work out) things you never said. That difference is the heart of this whole lesson.
- Name the obvious and the non-obvious kinds of personal data, and explain why AI can infer hidden facts about you.
- Trace the five-step data lifecycle: collected → combined → profiled → used to decide → sold or leaked.
- Answer the "I have nothing to hide" argument with three solid reasons.
- Explain the mosaic effect and re-identification in plain words, with real numbers.
- Apply practical defence habits and know why each one works — and what you cannot fix alone.
- Use the rights vocabulary: consent, purpose limitation, right to deletion.
