π Humans and Nature. Protecting Nature
Grade 5 Biology β Understanding Our Place in the Natural World
π€ Think About This...
Could you survive for even one day without plants, animals, clean water, or fresh air?
Take a moment to think about everything you've used today β your breakfast, the air you breathe, the water you drink, the paper in your notebook. Where did it all come from?
Let's explore how deeply connected we are to the natural world β and why protecting it matters for all of us! π±
𧬠Part 1: We Are Part of Nature
Sometimes people think of "nature" as something far away β forests, mountains, or oceans that we visit on holidays. But the truth is: humans are part of nature, not separate from it. We are living organisms, just like birds, trees, and fish. We belong to the same web of life.
Remember from earlier lessons how we studied ecosystems β communities of living things interacting with each other and their environment? Humans live inside ecosystems too! We breathe the oxygen that plants produce, drink water from rivers and lakes, and eat food that grows in soil.
π Our Connections to Nature
- π« Air: Plants produce the oxygen we breathe
- π§ Water: Rivers, lakes, and rain give us clean water
- π Food: All our food comes from plants or animals
- π Materials: Wood, cotton, and many resources come from nature
- π Medicine: Many medicines are made from natural substances
- π Well-being: Being in nature makes us healthier and happier
