Mathematics Grade 8 Difficulty 2/5

Beginning of the lesson

Unions of Inequalities (Disjunctions)

📐 Formal Definition

Given two inequalities $A$ and $B$, the disjunction is written as:

$A \;\;\textbf{OR}\;\; B$

The solution set is the union of the individual solution sets:

$\text{Solution} = \{x \mid x \in A\} \cup \{x \mid x \in B\}$

The symbol $\cup$ means "union" — we combine all values that work in either inequality (or both).
