Box Plots and Quartiles
Box plots (also called box-and-whisker plots) are special diagrams that show us how numbers in a group are spread out. They're like picture stories about our data!
What is a Box Plot?
A box plot is a way to show five important numbers about our data:
- The minimum (smallest number)
- The maximum (largest number)
- The median (middle number)
- The lower quartile (middle of the lower half)
- The upper quartile (middle of the upper half)
These five numbers are called the five-number summary.
