Volume of a Rectangular Parallelepiped

Units of Volume

What is Volume?

Volume is the measure of space inside a three-dimensional (3D) figure.

  • It tells us how much space a solid object occupies
  • It answers the question: "How much fits inside?"
  • Volume is measured in cubic units
Think of it this way: If you could fill a box with tiny cubes, the volume tells you how many cubes would fit inside!

What is a Cubic Unit?

A cubic unit is a cube with an edge length of 1 unit.

It's the basic building block for measuring volume!

Example: 1 cm³ (one cubic centimeter)

A cube where each edge is exactly 1 centimeter long. It's about the size of a small sugar cube!

When we measure volume, we count how many unit cubes fit inside the figure.
