Organizing and Classifying Data

Mathematics Grade 3 Difficulty 2/5

Beginning of the lesson

Organizing and Classifying Data

When we collect information about things around us, we call this data. Data can be about anything - like your friends' favorite colors, the types of pets in your neighborhood, or how many students like different sports.

Sometimes we collect so much data that it gets confusing! That's why we need to organize and classify our data. This means putting similar things together in groups.

Why Do We Organize Data?

  • It helps us see patterns more easily
  • It makes the information easier to understand
  • It helps us answer questions about the data
